A TDP worker was killed and over 15 people injured in clashes while a film actress was attacked by rivals and Naxalites triggered a blast at a polling booth as voting began in Andhra Pradesh.

An estimated 42 to 46 per cent of the 2.36 crore voters on Monday exercised their franchise till 1.00 pm in the final phase of simultaneous election to Lok Sabha and Assembly in Andhra Pradesh.

TDP activist P Srinu was allegedly stabbed to death by Congress activists near a polling booth at Pallam village in east Godavari district, prompting the authorities to stop polling for a while, police said.

TDP and Congress activists hurled crude bombs at each other at Remidicherla village under Narsaraopet assembly segment from where state medical and health minister K Sivaprasada Rao is seeking re-election.

However, no one was injured in the incident, a report from Guntur said.

"The polling has been quite brisk at several places in the state," state additional chief electoral officer Ajay Sahwney said.
