Achuthanandan turns 85

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh greeted Achuthanandan over phone in the morning, official sources said.

There were no birth-day bashes and Achuthandan attended to his routine work as usual. He woke up early in the morning and did routine exercises including yoga.

After going through the newspapers, he had a frugal breakfast and went through the official files and papers that required urgent attention, the sources said.

After lunch with wife Vasumathi and other family members at the official residence, Achuthanandan also found time for a brief chat with mediapersons who turned up to greet him on the occasion.
