Chief medical officer of Varanasi, Dr. AP Singh said a control room was set up at CMO office to monitor the situation.“A team of doctors and para-medical staffs has been constituted in each block to monitor their respective areas,” he said. Dr. Singh said all the CHCs and PHCs were given medicines for diseases.
“Besides, wells and ponds being used for drinking purpose had been disinfected,” he claimed.
He said Shiv Prasad Gupta Divisional Hospital, Deen Dayal Upadhyay Government Hospital and Lal Bahadur Shashtri Government Hospital (Ramnagar) had been equipped with all the medicines and other facilities to counter the spread of any possible infectious or communicable diseases in the district.
The CMO said that officials of the Jal Nigam were supervising chlorination of supply water whereas the Nagar Nigam Nigam was supervising the sanitation work in the district to check the outbreak of any water-borne diseases in this monsoon.
