A large number of such people or agents can be seen hanging out on the Harcourt Butler Technological Institute campus searching for interested candidates.

They are misleading the ambitious students who are ready to pay any amount of money for admission to good private colleges as there is no vacancy in reputed and government institutes in the State.

An agent collected the original certificates of a candidate and the money. He assured the candidate and his parents of informing them about the admission within three days. But he did not return. However, he sent the original certificates to the candidate through post.

Now, the candidate was left with no option but to appear in the counselling.
In another case, an agent collected money and the original certificates from a candidate. After two days, the candidate received an admission form of a newly established engineering college in Pune. The candidate had no other option but to join the sub-standard college.

These agents, including women, have cheated a large number of candidates. Although the HBTI has taken various steps to check this menace, it was not known how such unscrupulous people could enter the campus.

Meanwhile on the eighth day of the counselling about 500 candidates opted for the reserved seats at the government and the general seats in the private colleges.
