Agitation over removal of Gandhiji's photo

RLD has strongly objected to replacing photographs of Mahatma Gandhi and former Prime Minister Charan Singh with those of Chief Minister Mayawati and BSP founder Kanshi Ram in a panchayat meeting hall in Muzaffarnagar.

RLD supporters led by state president R D Malik, secretary Rajeshwar Tyagi and former district panchayat chairman Trispal Malik staged a dharna outside the District Magistrate's office in Muzaffarnagar on Friday.

The photos Mayawati and Kanshi Ram were noticed in the hall during the swearing in of the newly elected district panchayat chairman.

BSP MLA Shahnawaz Rana's wife Intakhab Rana was recently elected panchayat chairman.
