His extension comes at a critical time when the merger of Air India with Indian Airlines has been slated for on March 31, 2007, reports Lalatendu Mishra.
The Ministry of Civil Aviation has extended the tenure of Air India Chairman & Managing Director V Thulasidas whose three years term at Air India was scheduled for completion on Friday, December 22 until further order. A senior Air India official who refused to be named confirmed this.

Mr Thulasidas was under deputation for the top job at the national flag carrier. His extension comes at a critical time when the merger of Air India with Indian Airlines has been slated for on March 31, 2007. Apart from this, Air India is inducting new aircraft into its fleet and two brand new aircraft from Boeing have already been delivered and by the end of 2007 a total of 17 new aircraft are slated to join the Air India fleet.
