Airports rejig: Centre to abide by HC order

The Centre assured the Delhi HC that any step taken by the government would be subject to the court's verdict.

The Centre on Thursday assured the Delhi High Court that any step taken by the government to transfer equity rights or reach an agreement with private parties to modernise Delhi and Mumbai airports, would be subject to the court's verdict on the tender controversy.

Appearing on behalf of the Union Government, Additional Solicitor General Gopal Subramaniam, said that parties to the agreement were fully aware that any negotiations during the interregnum period would eventually depend on the the court's final order.

However, the Division Bench of Justice Thirath Thakur and Justice BN Chaturvedi hearing the matter reserved their opinion till Monday, a decision on the Anil Ambani-owned Reliance Airport Developers plea for passing an interim stay on any "pre-emptive" agreement being reached by the Government until the matter was finally disposed off.
