Aishwarya blanks Pooja to enter final

ASIAN JUNIOR tennis champion Aishwarya Agarwal on Tuesday stormed into the finals of the AITA Talent Series junior tennis tournament organised by the Indore Tennis Club under the aegis of MP Tennis Association at ITC courts in Indore. Aishwarya defeated her teammate Pooja Kudesia by 9-0 in a one-sided semifinal. She never allowed her opponent to win a game in the entire match.

She will clash with Shewta Apte of Maharashtra in the final. In the second semifinal, Shweta beat Avani Mittal of MP by 9-3. The final will be played tomorrow at 9.30 am.

In the U-18 boys’ quarterfinal, Luv Sodha, Mavinder Singh, Ronak Jhaldar and Avinash Moppallan won their respective matches to advance to the last four. In U-14 boys’ quarterfinal, Saurabh Rqaghuvanshi, Surj Hariani, Rchit Sethiya and Arkesh Chouhan won their matches.

In the girls’ quarterfinal, Avani Mittal, Pooja Kudesia, Anveshi Gupta and Baljinder Kaur breezed into the semifinals. Pooja Kudesia defeated G Sharani of AP by 8-2 to enter the last eight.

The Madhya Pradesh Tennis Association felicitated Aishwarya Agarwal who had won the Asian junior tennis championship at Gurgaon recently.

Association secretary Anil Dhuper and other trustees of the ITC B S Chhabra and Vijay Verma were also present on the occasion.
