A BID to kidnap an 11-year-old boy was foiled today when the culprit, a seasoned criminal, was spotted by police during checking and when given a chase he fled leaving the victim behind.

According to information, the victim, Keshav Vishwakarma of Kolar slums, studies in Class VI at Azad Public School near Bima Kunj. His father is a carpenter by profession.

At about 11 am, Keshav was waiting for a mini bus to go home. At that time the culprit, Guddu a seasoned criminal of Habibganj area with several cases including attempt to murder his brother-in-law against his name, came there on a motorcycle.

Guddu offered a lift to Keshav luring to drop him home and the boy accepted. However, on the way, Guddu was spotted and identified by policemen during checking.

On seeing the police, Guddu fled from the spot along with the boy riding pillion. The police also gave him a chase and Guddu turned towards the Panchsheel Nagar slums.

Keshav, meanwhile, began shouting for help and some one informed the police control room too. Soon, more police rushed to the area and Guddu got inside the narrow lanes of Panchsheel slums to evade the cops.

However, at a blind turning some vehicle suddenly came ahead of the motorcycle and Guddu had no option but to apply brakes. Taking advantage of that, Keshav immediately jumped off the motorcycle while Guddu fled from the spot alone.

Police took Keshav home and he narrated the entire incident. A case has been registered against Guddu and a manhunt has been launched to nab him.
