Alice in Wonderland dominates box office

Alice, which stars Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter, brought in $62 million in ticket sales for Walt Disney Co, making a total of $208.6 million in the first two weeks of its release.

Director Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland was the top film in the US for a second weekend in a row, according to sales estimates.

Alice, which stars Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter, brought in $62 million in ticket sales for Walt Disney Co, making a total of $208.6 million in the first two weeks of its release.

Iraq war movie Green Zone, starring Matt Damon, opened in second place and earned a disappointing $14.5 million for NBCUniversal.

In third place was She's Out of My League ($9.6 million), followed by Robert Pattinson-starrer Remember Me ($8.28 million). Teen heart-throb Pattinson last appeared on the big screen in the Twilight series.

Shutter Island was in fifth place ($8.14 million), while Our Family Wedding- with America Ferrera and Forest Whitaker and about a wedding uniting black and Hispanic families - took in $7.6 million in ticket sales.

Avatar, the highest-grossing film of all time, was in seventh place with $6.6 million.
