"About 30,000 personnel of state police and from central forces have been deployed in the state", Tharakan said while speaking at a meet-the press programme, organised by the Kesari Memorial Journalist Trust here.
Of the 20,342 polling booths, 1904 had been identified as sensitive and more police forces would be deployed there. Special police pickets had also been posted in 1185 areas, along with 1,292 police groups patrolling these places.
On the increasing number of mafia groups in Kerala, he said there was an increase, as in other states. There was no point in not admitting that fact, he added.
