Backing the proposal for reservation for OBCs, Singh said the Government should try to look after the interest of all castes. He demanded that the government double the number of seats in all higher education institutions to accommodate all.

Asked about the ongoing anti-reservation protests by medical students and junior doctors, Singh said everyone in a democratic country had the right to protest but the interest of poor patients should not be overlooked.

He advised the protestors, especially doctors, to perform their duties and to treat patients.
