All party meet to discuss issue of NH in Kerala

Another all party meeting would be called by Chief Minister VS Achuthanandan to discuss issues connected with development of National Highways, Finance Minister and in-charge of PWD T M Thomas Issac told the assembly today.

Another all party meeting would be called by Chief Minister VS Achuthanandan to discuss issues connected with development of National Highways, Finance Minister and in-charge of PWD T M Thomas Issac told the assembly on Wednesday.

Minimum width of NHs and a rehabilitation package for the people whose land would be acquired for the purpose would be discussed at the meet, Issac said while replying to a calling attention on the matter.

State government had asked the Centre to limit the width of NH in the state to 30 metres in view of the difficulty in getting enough land and also had opposed to the BOT model of developemnt as per a decision taken at an all party meeting held last month.

However, Centre had indicated to the state that the proposal was not acceptable to it, Issac said. So, government intended to call an all party meeting again to discuss the issue, he said.
