All set for child health scheme

THE STATE Government has said that extensive arrangements are being made for implementation of Bal Shakti Scheme ? meant for medical treatment of the severely malnourished children ? in all districts of the State. The Government has issued directives in this regard to the district Collectors and asked them to organise coordination meetings of district-level Health and Women and Child Welfare departments? officials for effective implementation.

THE STATE Government has said that extensive arrangements are being made for implementation of Bal Shakti Scheme – meant for medical treatment of the severely malnourished children – in all districts of the State. The Government has issued directives in this regard to the district Collectors and asked them to organise coordination meetings of district-level Health and Women and Child Welfare departments’ officials for effective implementation.

The Government has further said that each of the districts has been allocated Rs 1 lakh for institutional treatment of the severely malnourished children as also for medicines, publicity, arrangement of consultancy from private pediatricians and others.

The objective of the scheme is to bring down the malnourishment rate in the State below one per cent by providing medical treatment, nutrition and rehabilitation services.
