He said that Congress leader Pramod Tiwari had strongly opposed the proposal when it was tabled in the UP Assembly. But when the same bill was placed in Parliament, the Congress Party supported it.
Amar Singh was here to participate in the foundation programme at APG Degree College at Sangrampur town of Unuwal block of the district. He said that the BJP-led government in Jharkhand had passed the Bill but in Parliament they strongly opposed it. The SP had supported the Bill in the Assembly and even in Parliament. Singh claimed that the Bill had exposed the double standard adopted by the Congress and the BJP.
Parliament has passed the Bill and the post of UP Development Corporation chairman had come under preview of the post of benefits. He was not happy about keeping the post of National Advisory Committee Council and chairman of UP Development Corporation in the same category.
Coming down heavily on the Election Commission, Singh said that when the commission could hold the by-election in Rae Bareli in a short time, why the commission was not declaring the date for the election to Rajya Sabha seat. He said that the Congress was targeting Bachchan family and termed Jaya Bachchan a victim of the Congress conspiracy. He repeatedly said that the SP would extend its full support to the Bachchans.
Expressing his views on this occasion, Chairman of UP Film Development Council Jaya Bachchan said that no one could tarnish the image of the Bachchans. She said that the Shiv Sena was trying to force those who were from UP and Bihar to leave Mumbai but the Congress had maintained a stoic silence on the issue.
She called upon the people to strengthen the SP for transforming UP into Uttam Pradesh.
