Ambuja, ACC contribute Rs 5 mn for Naina Devi victims

GACL and ACC have contributed Rs 2.5 million each for relief and rehabilitation of the Naina Devi temple stampede victims.

The country's leading cement makers Gujarat Ambuja Cements Ltd (GACL) and ACC have contributed Rs 2.5 million each for relief and rehabilitation of the Naina Devi temple stampede victims.

Puneet Saran, senior vice-president of GACL, and Arun Mahajan, vice-president of ACC, presented drafts for Rs 2.5 million to Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal in Shimla on Tuesday, an official release said.

The amount was deposited under the Chief Minister's Relief Fund.

The stampede occurred at the hilltop shrine of Naina Devi on August 3 At least 145 people were killed in the tragedy, and scores left injured.
