An evening of stars & style
If it?s Manish Malhotra?s fashion show, a dash of Bollywood presence is a must.
If it’s Manish Malhotra’s fashion show, a dash of Bollywood presence is a must.
Manish Malhotra’s fashion show at the 1 Style Mile (presented by Kimaya) turned out to be quite a starry affair. Shahid Kapoor walked in with Kareena Kapoor, who teamed a simple denim jacket with black trousers and an op-art printed top. Actor-director Satish Kaushik was also present at the do.

Malhotra’s collection mainly comprised asymmetrical kurtas worn without churidars, bright ankle-length skirts with sequins, layered tops, and animal printed saris bordered with sequins. Chiffons and georgettes primarily ruled the ramp. The men who catwalked at the fashion show sported long kurtas and
shirts with kantha embroidery.
Shahid Kapoor, who never left Kareena at the do, said he didn’t know much about fashion but was happy that Malhotra was designing for women. Said Kareena: “I like Manish’s designs. He is a friend and I’m thankful to him for the way he has helped style my clothes in films.”
It is interesting to note that quite a few Mumbai fashion designers are now competing with Delhi designers. Malhotra apart, Sahab Durazi, Anna Singh, Priya Awasthi, and Shane and Falguni Peacock are among Mumbai designers whose works will now increasingly be seen in the Capital.
Those who came to see Malhotra’s creations included designer Mandira Wirk and her husband Hardy, former Pakistan cricket captain
Wasim Akram, former cricketer Atul Wassan, designers Ranna Gill and Vijay Arora, model Priya Sachdev and cricket commentator Charu Sharma.
