Ansari produced in court in cop attack case

INDEPENDENT JAILED MLA, Mukhtar Ansari and three others were produced in the court of additional district and sessions judge (Fast Track), Shaileshwar Nath Singh at Ghazipur on Tuesday in connection with the attack on an additional SP of police, Udai Shanker Jaiswal on Februay 27, 1996.

INDEPENDENT JAILED MLA, Mukhtar Ansari and three others were produced in the court of additional district and sessions judge (Fast Track), Shaileshwar Nath Singh at Ghazipur on Tuesday in connection with the attack on an additional SP of police, Udai Shanker Jaiswal on Februay 27, 1996.

The court has framed charges against the alleged accused in this case pending for the last 10 years. The court fixed June 20 for prosecution to produce evidences. The accused included, Mukhtar Ansari, Bheem Singh, Afroz and Sahab Yadav.

While framing charges against the accused, the court said the accused Mukhtar Ansari along with Afroz, Bheem Singh, Saheb Yadav, Haidar Ali,Tassu, Mohammad Sadik, Mahendra and several unidentified attacked by opening fire on police team led by the Additional SP on February 27, 1996 at Lanka bus stand in Ghazipur when police stopped his cavalcade for checking. A jail guard of Ghazipur had been injured in the firing.

Two accused, Mahendra and Haider did not turn up. The court took serious note of it and issued non-bailable warrant against them. Another accused, Afroz, who turned up was sent to jail on the basis of Warrant-B. Meanwhile, court of district and sessions judge, Srikant Tripathi in Mau, held the hearing over the ‘State verses Mukhtar Ansari Case’ in connection with October 14, 2005 riots, on Tuesday.

Three constables, Hiraman Yadav, Sanjay Pratap Singh and Pankaj Rai, got their statement registered. The court would also conduct hearing on Wednesday.
