Security was beefed up at important places, including temple and mosques.
Officials swung into action and sniffer dog squad were deployed at railway station and bus stations to avoid any untoward incident. SSP Raja Srivastav, SP railway Brijraj, DIG zone BB Bakshi and railways chief security officer Jaya Singh Chauhan, appealed to the people not to pay attention to rumours.
Police personnel carried out checking of passengers goods, cars and other vehicles parked on the railway premises. SP city Dilip Kumar said the checking operation had been launched in view of security reasons.
Sharply condemning the serial bomb blasts in Mumbai, leaders of various political parties on Wednesday took out a symbolic funeral procession of terrorism, burnt an effigy of the Union Home minister and shouted slogans against Congress-led Union government. They alleged that the soft attitude of Manmohan government had boosted the morale of terrorist organizations.
Members of the Bharatiya Janata Party took out a symbolic funeral procession of Union Minister for Home Affairs Shivraj Patil and burnt his effigy at Chetna crossing.
Expressing his views on this occasion, State president of BJP education cell, Vibhrat Chand Kaushik, claimed that inefficiency of the government had been exposed and the blast was the result of a deep-rooted conspiracy. He called it an intelligence failure and demanded an inquiry into the blasts.Party leader Raviprskash Srivastav, Rajesh Jaiswal, Vishwajeet Singh and others said terrorism was spreading its wings in the country and Congress government was responsible for it.
Activists of Hindu Yuva Vahini burnt an effigy of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh at the Town Hall crossing and strongly condemned the blast. He said the appeasement policies of a particular class persuaded by the Congress and SP governments was responsible for this incident.
Activists of SP Yuvjan Sabha also burnt an effigy of Shivraj Patil at the Court crossing and said the soft attitude of Congress led UPA government had boosted the morale of terrorist organisations.
Party leader Kuldeep Yadav, Khursheed Simnani and others demanded dismissal of the Congress government in the state of Maharashtra.
