Left parties on Tuesday congratulated the people of Andhra Pradesh for their verdict in the elections, saying it was a clear indictment of the policies pursued by the TDP-BJP combine.

"What we have been saying for so long has come true. It was a double-incumbency against the opportunistic (TDP-BJP) combine as the people have not only voted against the state Government, but also against the BJP-led central Government," CPI(M) Polit bureau member Sitaram Yechury said.

The Central Secretariat of the CPI said the verdict was a clear indictment of both the TDP rule as well as the NDA Government at the Centre.

"The people of Andhra Pradesh have not just voted for a change of Government, but for a Government, which would address their concerns," the CPI said.
