Atomic Energy Commission chairman Dr Anil Kakodkar will inaugurate the conference and RRCAT director Dr V C Sahni would chair the conference. The conference will cover various topics related to science, technology and utilisation of accelerators.

There will be plenary and parallel sessions for accelerator technology, circular and linear colliders, synchrotron light sources and free electron lasers, hadrons and lepton accelerators and technology transfer and industrial relations.

There will be a special session on building of international collaboration for mega accelerator projects. RRCAT is the largest accelerator centre in India having built two high-energy electron storage rings Indus-1 and Indus-2. In addition to these, there are smaller accelerator machines that are being used for applications related to processing of agricultural, industrial and medical products.

RRCAT will conduct the conference under aegis of Asian Committee for Future Accelerators (ACFA) in collaboration with various accelerator centres and R&D institutes like Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Mumbai, Variable Energy Cyclotron Centre, Kolkata and Inter University Accelerator Centre, New Delhi. The earlier APAC conferences were organised by KEK, Tsukuba (Japan) in 1998 followed by APAC-2001 conference at IHEP, Beijing (China) and APAC-2004 by PAL/POSTECH at Gyeongju (Korea).
