He said Gorakhpur, Basti and Azamgarh lagged in commercialising agriculture products.

Owing to poor irrigation system and shortage of staff in the department, farmers were not getting the maximum benefits, he said.

Ansari said principal secretary, Agriculture, Jaishanker Mishra had directed officials to coordinate with banks to advance loans to farmers.
