Army, dist admn chalk out mela plan

SEVERAL IMPORTANT issues related to the Ardh Kumbh Mela were discussed between the district administration and military officials recently. Commissioner Dr Lalit Verma and Sub-area Commander Brig SS Yadav were the main officials present at the meeting. Mela officer Pragyan Ram Mishra and ADM SK Pandey, along with military officials were present on the occasion.

The issues discussed included projects related to permanent construction on the parade ground and the mela area should be started with immediate effect.

It was also decided to prepare a formal letter related to help required by mela administration from military officials and the letter should be sent to the military officials.

The decision was undertaken to instruct SO Daraganj to coordinate with the military officials.

This has been made compulsory since complex situation arose during the anti-encroachment drive started by the military officials. Military officials agreed to inform the district administration about any such drive beforehand.

During the meeting, military officials expressed their desire to extend a helping hand in construction of pontoon bridges for which the district administration assured providing relevant information.

It was expected of the DM to provide report regarding land to be handed over for the Naini Bridge to the military officials. Military officials proposed it was unnecessary to arrange for roadlights from High Court to Chauphatka and on the Stanley Road.

It was agreed to speed up the plantation work in the parade ground.
