Army has taken an initiative to sponsor IT courses for students from remote areas of Kashmir valley for various IT education courses. Under Operation Sadbhavana, the army will bear fifty per cent cost of the total expenditure incurred on the training of the students for foundation level and advance diploma level courses being run by Doeacc centre at Rangreth in Srinagar, a defence spokesman said.
Forty-five students for foundation level (‘o’ level) and 25 for advance diploma level (‘a’ level), which started on Monday, have been selected. He said wards of economically backward and personnel hailing from rural and remote areas were given preference during selection process.
A total of 135 candidates had applied for the courses, the spokesman said, adding that a written test was conducted on November 20 last year under the supervision of the army and doeacc officials.
