The deceased was identified as Indra Singh, posted as an ASI in Mewat.
The incident took place near Dhunela village at around 4 pm when ASI Inder Singh, head constable Ramcharan and constables Kamal, Gopal and Lakhan were returning to Mewat in a Chevrolet Tavera.
When their vehicle reached near Bhondsi area, it brushed past a Hyundai Sonata coming from the opposite direction. As the driver lost control, the vehicle hit the divider.
“Due to high speed of the vehicle, the car hit the divider and overturned at the opposite side of the road,” said a police officer.
Earlier in the day, the policemen had produced three prisoners in a city court, dropped them at Bhondsi Jail and then left for Nuh in Mewat.
The Bhondsi police rushed all the injured men to Sohna civil hospital. Singh died on his way to the hospital. Two of the critically injured were referred to a private hospital in Gurgaon.
“The injured have been admitted to Medanta Medicity hospital,” said a senior police officer.
