The death toll in the flood in Assam on Tuesday rose to 22 with reports of two more cases of drowning in Kamrup district, according to official sources.

There are reports of two more deaths due to drowning in the Chandrapur revenue circle areas, the sources said.
State Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi has requested Union Minister of Water Resources Arjun Sethi to release sufficient funds.
The cash starved state needs urgent repair caused due to flood and due to non-approval of funds from the Centre for flood management the situation was serious, Gogoi said in a letter to the Union Minister.
The Chief Minister pointed out that out of the 27 breaches so far in the current wave three major breaches needed urgent repair and was left out due to lack of funds expected from the centre.
