"Despite repeated requests to the government, no initiative has been taken to abolish the unauthorized check gates, pollution testing centers and weigh bridges on NH-62," the Goalpara District Truck Owners Association said in a memorandum to Meghalaya chief minister.

Giving a list of such illegal check gates in the Garo Hills region of Meghalaya, they threatened to call for an indefinite 'chakka (wheel) bandh' if the Mehalaya government failed to take action against them.
