Ranju Devi, 30, allegedly committed the crime when her family members were asleep, the police said.
Along with her husband, Chote Shah, and three children, one a three-year-old girl and two five-month-old twin boys, Ranju Devi had come to Sonari from Bihar to visit her brothers, who are hawkers.
The locals alleged a tantric (witch doctor) goaded Ranju Devi into committing the crime. She was reportedly scared after she had a dream that if she did not sacrifice one of her two sons to the gods, both would die.
The police said the woman was not mentally stable.
“After being tipped off by the locals, we retrieved the body from the place where it was buried,” the police said.
The police have arrested Ranju Devi, Chote Shah and one of her brothers. The other brother is absconding.
