The crash occurred on Monday on a highway in Wenshan, an area in Yunnan province, Xinhua said.

The truck's brakes also failed and seven people died on the spot, including the bus driver, it said.

The truck driver survived. The bus was carrying 20 people and Xinhua didn't say how many people were in the truck.

China's roads are among the world's deadliest, with major accidents occurring daily because of reckless driving, poor road conditions and overloading of vehicles.
