At least 13 children dead in Nepal road mishap

The school children were killed when an overloaded van in which they were travelling plunged into a canal in eastern Nepal.

At least 13 school children were killed when an overloaded van in which they were travelling plunged into a canal on Monday morning in eastern Nepal.

The mishap occurred at Jhumka area in Sunsari district, some 400 km east of Kathmandu, police said adding that out of 18 children who were travelling in the van, 13 were killed while four are still untraceable.

One child, who was rescued, is undergoing treatment at a local hospital, police said adding that a search is on to locate the missing children.
