Vajpayee was to visit the state on Monday and Wednesday next to address rallies in support of the BJP-Shiv Sena combine but he will not be able to go because he is "not well", party sources said in New Delhi on Saturday.

His programme of campaigning in the state on October seven, nine and 10 will remain unchanged, they said.

The party high command has passed on this information to its unit in Maharashtra, they said, adding Vajpayee will compensate for the loss of the days.

As part of the campaign programme chalked out for BJP leaders, Vajpayee was to address six rallies during five days.
