The actor who was in Meerut to participate in a programme at Nehru Yuva Kendra said on Sunday, "Amitabh Bachhan was being targeted by a few people who wanted cheap publicity".
The TV show host of "Jeena isi ka naam hai" however admitted that Marathis should get more prominence, but also said "parochialism" will only divide India and result in more clashes.
"If Indians were not allowed to stay anywhere within their own country and they cannot feel safe, where should they go?" Sheikh questioned.
