ALLAHABAD UNIVERSITY (AU) has formed a five-member committee that will look into the encroachments taking place on the varsity lands and co-ordinate efforts with the district administration to free the lands of its illegal occupants.

AU Chief Public Information Officer (CPIO) Prof Amrendra Kumar Singh has been made convenor of the committee which will comprise of member of AU Executive Council Sunit Vyas, Finance Officer Prof JN Mishra, Prof BP Singh of Law Department and university engineer NK Singh.
A decision in this regard was taken at the meeting of the AU Planning and Development Board which was held at the office of the AU Vice-Chancellor and was presided over by the VC Prof Rajen Harshe himself.
The Board members also resolved that a boundary wall needs to be immediately constructed around the Botany department's farm land located near the Beli Colony.
They also agreed that the dome of the Vijaynagram hall also needs to be beautified. Some members also demanded that the boundary wall in front of the Vijaynagram hall be replaced by an iron railing so that the majestic beauty of the hall is visible to the people passing through the adjacent roads.
Most members agreed that the beautification work of the building and the campuses be carried out on a war footing in order to ensure that the university buildings present their true beauty when the Ardh Kumbh gets underway and lakhs of visitors pour into the city from all over the country and even abroad.
Almost all the members of the AU Planning and Development Board including Prof KG Srivastava, Prof Janak Pandey, Prof JN Bhargava, Prof BP Singh, Dr Avinash Chandra Pandey, Prof PN Mehrotra, Registrar Prof US Rai, AU Finance Officer Prof JN Mishra, AU Engineer NK Singh besides the AU CPIO Prof Amrendra Singh were present on the occasion.
