Aus govt to sponsor Bradman Exhibition

The 'Bradman Exhibition', a unique display of memorabilia related to the greatest ever batsman in cricket history, will travel to India.

The 'Bradman Exhibition', a unique display of memorabilia related to the greatest ever batsman in cricket history, will travel to India, courtesy sponsorship by the Australian government.

"We will contribute one million (Australian) dollars in sponsorship towards the Bradman Exhibition tour of India," visiting Australian Prime Minister John Howard said at a business meetingin Delhion Monday.

The exhibition, scheduled for later this year, will tour New Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata.

It will be a unique collection of memorabilia assembled specifically for Indian public so that "as many people as possible in this cricket loving country will have the opportunity to see it first hand," Howard said.

He said that passion for cricket united people from both the countries more than anything else.

Howard also hoped that his country's expertise in managing major sports events could be of assistance and value to the orgaisers of the 2010 Commonwealth Games to be held in New Delhi.
