Switzerland's Patty Schnyder sailed into the second round of the Australian Open on Tuesday with a comfortable 6-4 6-3 win over Eleni Daniilidou of Greece.

Seventh-seed Schnyder raced to victory in just 67 minutes, firing six aces past Daniilidou in a strong display of serving.
Schnyder, who has never won a grand slam tournament, has been a consistent performer at Melbourne Park.
The 27 year old reached the semi-finals in 2004 then the quarter-finals last year, making it to the last 16 or beyond six times in the past nine seasons.
