The Australians won handsomely, outplaying India in every department of the game. To begin with, they are a terrific side. Any team that has Adam Gilchrist (one of the top five batsmen in the world) coming at seven is awe-inspiring. Secondly, they are such a positive side and lay a lot of stress on body language. The man of the match, Michael Clarke, came into the team due to Ponting’s injury and on debut, played a match-winning knock.
This speaks volumes for Australian cricket. Also, any side that can keep a player like Mathew Elliot out or for that matter, even makes you forget that Ponting even exists, is really going to be hard to beat. Especially when you are desperately seeking Tendulkar every day.
It's clear that they have come into this series with a huge hunger to win, preparation, focus and a clear understanding. They have learnt from their past experiences here and on introspection, have changed their approach. Earlier, they would go out and want to win every match. Then they were chasing a record for the most number of Test wins.
