Aviation body asks govt to reduce taxes

"The call was not for special favours or preferential treatment. But for a coordinated policy framework that would facilitate growth," IATA director general Tony Tyler said addressing a CII conference on aviation. Speaking on the sidelines, SpiceJet CEO Neil Mills said the Competition Commission of India had ruled the Centre could not regulate airfares.
Aviation minister Ajit Singh said the government was considering giving management control of Kolkata and Chennai airports to global operators through a competitive bidding process. He added that India was likely to become the third largest aviation market by 2020.
