Avoid commercialisation of astrology:Vijayvargiya

State PWD Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya inaugurated the conference by lighting a lamp and garlanding the portrait of Goddess Saraswati. ‘Mangal Kand’ was recited at the inaugural function. Speaking on the occasion, Vijayvargiya said that astrology was an ancient science of India, hence it must not be regarded as a means of earning money alone.

He elaborated on the significance of ‘Tulsi’ plant and asked the people to plant it in their homes. Also ‘Tulsi’ must be worshipped, as it is a holy plant, he added.

Indore Development Authority (IDA) Chairman Madhu Verma presided over the inaugural session. Hari Kishan Soni, Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) Revenue Committee President Shankar Lal Yadav and Prem Kumar Goswami (Mathura) were special guests on the occasion.

Around 500 astrologers from India, Nepal and Bhutan have arrived to participate in the conference. A seminar on effect of ‘Shani’ and ‘Mangal’ was held after the inaugural session. Programme convener Rajesh Gupta and Society regional president Pandit Ramesh Chandra Pandey also participated in the programme.

Pandit Suryakant Tripathi, Dr Madan Bhatia, Jaidev Sen, Pandit Kailash Chandra Mishra, Dwarkanath Chattopadhyay and Pandit Rajkumar Dwivedi were some of the main speakers. Counselling session for general public was scheduled to be held from 4.00 pm today.

MP Sumitra Mahajan would inaugurate the second day’s programmes tomorrow. Governor Dr Balram Jakhar would be chief guest of the closing ceremony on January 21.
