B'desh wins of no relevance: Ganguly

The Indian captain said two crushing wins over the minnows would have no bearing on the upcoming home Test series against Pakistan.

Indian captain Sourav Ganguly said on Monday that two crushing wins over minnows Bangladesh would have no bearing on the upcoming home Test series against Pakistan.

The Bangladeshis were thrashed by an innings and 83 runs in the second and final Test as India completed a 2-0 sweep, having won the first Test by an innings and 140 runs in Dhaka last week.

But Ganguly said the wins over Bangladesh would count for nothing when India take on Pakistan in a three Test series in India starting next March.

"I don't think this series has any relevance to the one against Pakistan," Ganguly said. "The Pakistan series is still two months away. We've beaten Pakistan in Pakistan last season. I think confidence is the key and we'll go into that series with a lot of confidence," Ganguly said.
