Amid widespread protests, authorities on Thursday filed a criminal case against the school in Bangalore where a three-year-old nursery student was allegedly raped.
The department of public instruction filed a complaint against the Orchid International School, because the nursery classes were being run illegally,officials said.
"Also, the school was given permission to run classes 1 to 5 in Kannada medium. But they where running classes from 1 to 7 in the English medium, said Mohamad Mohsin, comissioner,department of public instruction?
No arrests were made yet in the alleged rape case, three staff members were reportedly picked up by the police for questioning.
There have been angry protests in Bangalore since the case was reported on Tuesday, after the child's mother found her crying.
The child also had fever and complained to her mother that she was sexually abused by someone she did not know.
After medical examination confirmed sexual assault, police registered a case and started questioning the staff and faculty at the school.
This is the third such instance in Bangalore in recent months . In a previous incident, a six-year old was raped allegedly by two gym instructors at another school. leading to widespread protests.
