Madani was named an accused in Bangalore blasts case after arrested Lashkar-e-Tayyeba suspect T Nazeer reportedly told the Bangalore police that he knew about the plan to bomb the city.

Although Madani denied the charge, the Bangalore police claimed that it had evidence to prove his role in the blasts.

The move will help Madani evade an arrest by the Karnataka police, although his lawyer said failing health conditions forced his client to postpone his surrender.

Madani's decision to surrender in Kerala will be a big blow to the Karnataka police, which have been camping in Kollam for the last six days to arrest the cleric.

Two Karnataka senior police officers, including Bangalore joint commissioner Alok Kumar, arrived on Monday in Kollam where Madani is camping with his followers.
