Bangladesh parliament dissolved

The dissolution of the House on Sunday evening paves the way for fresh polls, likely to take place next January.

Jatiya Sangsad, the Bangladesh parliament, was dissolved on Sunday evening, paving the way for fresh elections likely to take place next January.

Jatiya Sangsad's Secretariat issued the gazette notification on Sunday, United News of Bangladesh (UNB) news agency said.

The notification, dated Oct 28 was issued on Sunday as it was the first working day after the Eid-ul-Fitr vacation, it was officially stated.

This was the eighth parliament of Bangladesh since its independence in 1971. It completed its five-year term on Friday.
