At least a dozen proposals would be discussed at the meeting being organised ahead of the budget meeting. There is a proposal to charge export fee on nine more articles, including soaps, soda, detergent, shoes, copper concentrate, wood and food items.
The BMC can earn some Rs 3 crore per year as fee from the proposed one per cent bazaar fee on electricity and telephone companies.
The BMC council is also to discuss the proposal to realise the licence fee through private contractors. The BMC administration also proposed to realise fee from private contractors for glow signboards.
Another proposal to figure in the meeting — no more loan should not be taken for the Kolar Augmentation Scheme phase-II. It is pleaded that the interest on total loan amount of Rs 67 crore is being paid. The BMC has taken a loan of Rs 13 crore from the Housing and Urban Development Corporation (HUDCO). The BMC said this amount should be considered final as the implementation of the scheme is put on hold.
The BMC has also proposed that open land adjoining Yadgar-e-Shahejahani Park would be given on rent for private functions. In keeping with official process, the BMC had invited objections for the Transport Nagar development. However, no objections were received. A proposal is on the agenda in this regard.
Some more proposals could be included in the agenda for BMC council after the proposed meeting of Mayor-in-Council (MiC) on Thursday. The proposal of by-laws for the hostels being run in the City would also come up for discussion in the MiC on Thursday. Later, the proposal would be included on the BMC council agenda.
