At present, only 10 air-conditioned buses are being run by the department.

“The commuters have been demanding air-conditioned buses since the city bus service was launched. We will deploy these buses as per the demand of the commuters,” said a senior transport official.

These buses will ply on all the existing seven routes in Gurgaon — Manesar to Karol Bagh, Gurgaon Bus stand to Hong Kong market, Dundahera to Rajiv Chowk, Sector 29 to Railway station, Huda City Centre Metro Station to Sohna Road Badshahpur, Basai Chowk to Gurgaon Bus Stand and Palam Vihar to Bus Stand Gurgaon.

Besides, four new routes will also be inagurated before the end of this month.

“We will take a final decision on Friday, June 15, regarding the exact pathway for the four proposed routes,” said the official. In all, the inclusion of the new buses will take the figure for total intra-city buses to 86 comprising 35 semi low-floor buses, 35 fully fabricated air-conditioned buses, six specially designed and 10 specially designed standard buses.

These buses will ply on 11 routes at an average interval of 10 minutes.

Apart from the 25 air-conditioned buses, 25 non-AC buses are also to be introduced in the near future.

“This will take the total number of intra-city buses to more than a hundred,” added the transport official.
