INJURED SENIOR lecturer of LU’s Public Administration Department Nand Lal Bharati has accused a senior faculty member of instigating student leaders against him.
Bharati shot off a letter to V-C RP Singh in this regard and alleged that both student leaders Shiv Bhushan Singh and Saket Singh Sonu attacked him while he was sitting with another colleague of the department.
Bharati said while he was discussing sitting plan with a colleague, the aforementioned student leaders along with their band of associates walked into the room and asked for important questions for the exam. “But when I refused to oblige them, they all attacked me,” he said.
Bharati, who is having some breathing problem after the assault, recalled: “They shouted expletives laced with casteist remarks at me and mercilessly attacked me.”
He claimed this was not for the first time when he was attacked on the campus. Bharati feared that the erring student leaders might again attack him and sought safety and security for himself and his family members.
Last night supporters of student leaders Saket Singh Sonu and Shiv Bhushan along with other student leaders rushed to Balrampur hospital to seek apology so as to douse the issue. But a high drama took place at the hospital as students belonging to Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe were moved to see Bharati’s condition and stood in support of him. Sensing trouble those supporters of erring student leaders fled the scene.
