"The diamond which is .0003 carat is the world's smallest diamond to be hand polished at our facility in Amreli and certified by the International Gemological Institute," founder chairman Bhavani Gem Manji Dholakia said.

"It takes a team of five highly skilled professionals to cut and polish a rough diamond for 57 facets of this small a size," Dholakia said.

Till now we were polishing diamonds of one carat per 1,000 piece, he said.

"This .0003 carat nano sized diamond which is barely visible with a naked eye is used by the watch industry of Switzerland," Dholakia said adding "it is fixed on the dials of precious watches."

"We were told it's the first smallest diamond of the world, when we approached the authorities of Limca and Guinness Book of World Records to get this rare feat registered," he said.

The business house has been engaged in the process of diamond polishing for the last 40 years, Dholakia said.
