Bhojpuri again for Asha bees saal baad
THE ENCHANTRESS has returned with her velvet voice to cast another musical spell in Bhojpuri after an enduring wait of 20 years! It?s none other than Lucknow?s Kewar Kumar who?s convinced the Melody Queen to do it. He?s managed to cajole Asha Bhonsle into singing two songs under his direction for his movie Nehiya Sanehiya, shooting for which began at Shivgarh Estates, near Bacchrawan, on Wednesday.
THE ENCHANTRESS has returned with her velvet voice to cast another musical spell in Bhojpuri after an enduring wait of 20 years! It’s none other than Lucknow’s Kewar Kumar who’s convinced the Melody Queen to do it. He’s managed to cajole Asha Bhonsle into singing two songs under his direction for his movie Nehiya Sanehiya, shooting for which began at Shivgarh Estates, near Bacchrawan, on Wednesday.
The movie has been written and produced by Kunwar Ram Singh (the erstwhile prince of Jagdishpur Province, UP) and directed by Ravindra Verma under the banner of Jivant Films International.
Speaking to HT Lucknow Live from the sets, Kumar admitted that it had been tough convincing the singing diva to sing in Bhojpuri again. And why was it difficult convincing her to sing in Bhojpuri?
“She thought the songs were vulgar,” Kumar said. The last Bhojpuri flick she sang for was under the music direction of Chittragupt about two decades ago.
Asha Bhonsle herself said, “I consented to sing for Nehiya Sanehiya only after listening to its storyline, lyrics and its tune which I found very different from the stuff dished out in Bhojpuri movies these days”.
For Kumar, who had earlier been the music director in Karishma Kismat Ka besides several Bhojpuri movies, this was like a dream come true.
“Of course, it is a great feeling to have Ashaji sing under your direction. As usual she is terrific,” Kumar said.
What’s more, the ageless singing sensation, has promised to be a part of any future musical activity carried out under the banner of Jivant Films. “Since, I am associated with the banner, hopefully I would get more chances to direct Ashaji,” Kumar said. Lyrics of the movie, have been penned by Parashuram Prasad Kesri, Anjani Upadhyay and Kunwar Sultan Puri.
Nehiya Sanehiya stars Rajeev Mishra and Almaas Khan who play the lead roles of hero and heroine respectively. ‘Nehiya Sanehiya’ holds out the promise of a musical treat. Besides Asha, other top names like Kavita Krishnamurthy, Alka Yagnik, Sadhna Sargam, Richa Sharma, Udit Narain and Kumar Sanu have also lent their voice in the same movie.
