Bhopal win overall championship

BHOPAL TEAM today lifted the overall team championship in the State-level special women sports meet organised by the Directorate of Sports and Youth Welfare at Tatya Tope Stadium.

Athletes of Bhopal registered win in most of the events in the meet. Bhopal stood first in badminton singles, doubles, 100 m sprint, 400 m race, 4X100 m relay and kho-kho.

Chief guest of closing ceremony, MP Council of Sports vice-chairman Om Yadav distributed prizes to the winners. Addressing the gathering, he called upon the participants to win laurels like Sania Mirza and PT Usha.

Presiding over the function, Sports department Principal Secretary Ranjana Chaudhary said that the event would motivate other athletes to perform for the State in the championships to be organised in future.

On the occasion, Director, Sports Sanjay Chaudhary, Water Sports Centre in-charge Jalaj Chaturvedi, Rajesh Shakya, Sanjiv Gupta and others were present.

Earlier, participants of the meet visited the sports centre and sports training centre Bishenkheri. Team of Morena was declared winner in the marchpast event. Balaghat and Vidisha stood second and third in the same event, respectively.
