BHU to start PG diploma in information technology

BANARAS HINDU University (BHU) will start a Post Graduate Diploma in Information Technology at its newly-developed South Campus in Barkacha, Mirzapur, from March 1.

BANARAS HINDU University (BHU) will start a Post Graduate Diploma in Information Technology at its newly-developed South Campus in Barkacha, Mirzapur, from March 1.

Besides, the BHU will also start B.Ed, B.Ped, B. Pharma, Food Processing, Dairy Technology courses etc., from the next academic session. The construction work of faculty building, hostel, teachers’ houses, guest house and science hostel were completed. BHU is also planning to introduce a course on entrepreneurship on its South Campus.

This was disclosed in a review meeting for the progress of development works of South Campus at Barkachha in Mirzapur district, recently. BHU vice-chancellor Prof Punjab Singh chaired the review meeting. Former vice-chancellor of Lucknow University, Prof DP Singh, and Emeritus Professor CL Singh, were also present during review meeting.

Prof Panjab Singh said that the vast infrastructure of the South Campus would be developed with the assistance of Rs 2.5 crore under the Seed Research Development (SRD) scheme. He further added that the sowing of Jetropha plants was under process in the area of 300 hectares with a tune of Rs 75 lakh.

There is a plan also to open a school there.

The vice-chancellor has also reviewed the approved research planning. He said that a proposal of Rs 400 crore for the development of South Campus was under consideration with the Union Government.

Prof Singh further informed that construction work for an administrative building and Agriculture Hostel is going to start there with a tune of Rs 75 lakh.

Prominent among others who participated in the review meeting included director of Institute of technology, Prof SN Upadhyay, director of Institute of Agricultural Sciences, Prof OP Srivastava, Emeritus Prof Rishi Muni Singh, Prof Shiv Raj Singh, Prof BD Tripathi, Prof Kalyan Singh, public relation officer Dr Vishwanath Pandey and other members of the technical cell.
