Since the pamphlets were printed in Urdu, it did not cause any serious chaos and the police too swung into action in time. About 200 pamphlets were seized from the possession of the erring youths.

Similar incidents had incited major sectarian violence in Old City leading to arson and bloodshed while the procession of ninth day of Moharram was being taken out last year. Three deaths were reported and over a dozen were critically injured following the violence then.

Top cops rushed to the Old City area soon after they received information about some youths distributing inciting pamphlets carrying serious comment about people observing month of Moharram.

It was around 2 pm when four youths were spotted distributing pamphlets to local residents and people passing by the Tudiyaganj market in Chowk.

The cops immediately reached the place and brought the foursome to the police station. The foursome was identified as Samir of Fazil Nagar, Saadatganj, Mohammad Zubeir Ansari, Mohammad Khalid Saifullah Rehmani Azmi, both of Haider Mirza Road, Maulviganj Aminabad and Suhail Ahmed of Tudiyaganj.

It was revealed later that the youths were active members of an organization. It was Samir who had got 1,000 pamphlets printed from a printing press in Nazirabad locality in Aminabad. The cops later picked up the owner of the press for interrogation as to why did he not intimate the police after accepting the order for such objectionable pamphlets.
